Student Worker  to SEB – Junior macro economist

We are now looking for a student worker to join us as junior macro economists working on Fridays, with the main responsibility of publishing our weekly Week Ahead report. About SEB Strategy & Economic Research

The SEB Strategy & Economic Research team is the top-ranked Macro, Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) research team in the Nordics consisting of 20 strategists and economists based in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, London and Singapore. The group caters for macro research, markets strategy and forecasts across a broad range of topics, markets and regions for SEB clients, internal stakeholders such as sales and trading as well as external media. Our research is free and available online here.

What you will be doing 

As Junior macro economist your primary focus will be on editing and publishing our weekly Week Ahead publication which summarizes the main economic data and events, necessary for financial market actors’ radar during the next trading week. Also projects besides the publication of Week Ahead on an ad hoc basis will be possible, with focus on coverage of the macro economy and/or FICC markets e.g. development of forecasting models, data coverage and chart and analysis generation. 

The role is based in the trading room at SEB’s head office at Kungsträdgårdsgatan 8 in Stockholm but will have frequent interactions with colleagues and stakeholders from all around the world.

Who we are looking for 

To be a great fit for this role, you are in the middle stages of your studies within Economics, Finance, or a related field. 

As a person, you enjoy working in a structured and service-oriented way. You are curious, humble, proactive, open to learning new things, and have a keen interest in macro and financial markets. You thrive when working in a collaborative and international environment, and you value teamwork and shared success.

Fluency in both written and spoken English is required for this position while also fluency in Swedish and programming skills in Python is preferred.
